Firefighters rescue family dog from burning home

Sarnia Fire and Rescue says a family dog was rescued from a burning home in the city's south end on Tuesday afternoon.

The blaze on College Avenue, between Lochiel Street and Cromwell Street, broke out just before 1 p.m.

The lone occupant of the home also made it out safely.

The cause and damage estimate are still being determined.

The Sarnia Police Service and Lambton EMS also responded to the scene.

The roadway was closed as part of the ongoing investigation.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
