Sarnia area residents ate their fair share of Big Macs and Happy Meals on Wednesday.
This year's McHappy Day raised a total of $33,424 for Noelle's Gift.
The money raised for the local children's charity will go towards essential resources for students including food, school supplies, clothes, glasses and shoes.
A portion of the proceeds from Wednesday's fundraiser will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).
In Sarnia-Lambton and Strathroy a combined total of just over $13,717 was raised for RMHC-SWO.
Over 280 Sarnia-Lambton families have used a program run by RMHC-SWO over the last five years, spending a total of 4,390 nights at RMHC while their children received necessary care.
On average, RMHC supports over 26,000 Canadian families each year.
Across the country on Wednesday, over $7.5 million was raised in support of RMHC and children's charities through McHappy Day.
In 2022, McDonald’s Canada set a goal to donate over $70 million to RMHC by 2026, to help nearly double the number of bedrooms for families across the country over the next ten years.
