Planned dealership expansion boosts Sarnia building permits

A major expansion and renovation at a Sarnia dealership is in the works.

A $2 million permit for a commercial addition at Progressive Auto Sales on Exmouth Street was issued by city hall last month.

Work includes construction of a new showroom, office space, expansion of the repair shop and the addition of a new single-bay car wash.

A $1 million permit was also approved for a prefabricated trailer behind the Sarnia Jail. The structure will accommodate seven administration offices, a kitchenette and an accessible washroom.

A total of 51 permits were issued in April, worth just over $10 million, bringing the year-to-date total to $24.4 million.

Three permits were issued for single-family homes in Sarnia last month, as well as for two semi-detached dwellings.
