Lambton Film & Food Festival returns for 10th year

The Kineto Theatre is calling all movie buffs to Forest this weekend for the 10th annual Lambton Film & Food Festival.

Starting Thursday night, the festival will kick off with the Youth Film Competition Awards and screenings of the winning student productions. The theatre says community members are welcome to attend and donations at the door would be appreciated.

The rest of the weekend will feature a lineup of nine critically acclaimed movies with the first show starting at noon each day.

Films will appear as follows:

Friday, May 26.

12 p.m. - Guitar Lessons 3 p.m. - BROS 8 p.m. - Babylon

Saturday, May 27

12 p.m. - Living 3 p.m. - Women Talking 8 p.m. - The Fabelmans

Sunday, May 28

12 p.m. - Buffy Sainte-Marie: CARRY IT ON 3 p.m. - The Banshees of Inisherin 8 p.m. - Till

Aside from the screenings, the festival will be jam-packed with outdoor activities. King Street West will be closed between James Street North and Main Street North to make way for the attractions.

The first-ever "Chalk Art Fest" will happen early Friday morning with as many as 300 local students working together to fill the street with colourful artwork.

A Street Festival will take place outside of the Kineto Threatre on Friday with live entertainment from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Downtown Mural Project will be unveiled with two guided walks happening at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. For those who would rather stay put, there will be a High Tea hosted at the Kineto Theatre during the same time slots.

Those who attend the Lambton Film & Food Festival on Friday will receive a discount coupon to use throughout the weekend at one of five participating restaurants in the area.

On Saturday, the street festival will continue from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. An artisan markets will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on King Street West and in Rotary Park.

Sunday morning will feature a Junction Church Service at 10 a.m.
