Humane society hosts 'Rock the Rescue'

A fundraiser held at Sarnia's animal shelter will look a little different this year, with more family-fun activities planned throughout the day.

Rock the Rescue, in support of the Sarnia & District Humane Society, will be held on Saturday, June 3, from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Operations Manager Nicole King said in the past, the humane society would hold a garage sale to raise funds but this year, one of their team members suggested some additional attractions.

"We're just adding a little more to it," King said. "She decided to put some music to it, more raffle items, inflatables, and everything like that."

There will be live music from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. There will also be a dunk tank, games, cotton candy, snow cones, and a sale of new or like-new pet items.

There will be no admission fee.

King said staff will be on-site if attendees have questions about the animals currently up for adoption, many of which are cats.

"We also have some of our dogs that will be coming out as well to enjoy some fun," she said.

The shelter is located at 131 Exmouth St.
