Outdoor concert series marks unofficial start to summer

The Sounds of Summer concert series in Sarnia will kick off on Tuesday, June 6, continuing a 32-year tradition within the city.

The City of Sarnia said this year's lineup of more than 50 shows will feature local and out-of-town performers.

Several music genres will be covered throughout the summer, such as blues, pop, classical, and rock.

“We can’t wait for things to kick off, it’s a great opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy some live music in our beautiful public spaces,” said Community Services Coordinator Rachel Veilleux in a media release.

The first event will be Scottish Night at the Suncor Agora.

All concerts will begin at 7 p.m.

On June 7, Jammin' Quartet will play at Kenwick Park; the Honkey Tonk Outlaws will perform on June 8 at Paul Blundy Park; and Joan Spalding & Missy Burgess will be at Germain Park on June 8.

The concert series will be held until August 24.

Venues include Germain Park, Paul Blundy Park, Centennial Park Flag Court, Kenwick Park, the Canatara Park Bandshell, and the Seaway Kiwanis Pavilion.
