High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

A fan favourite with the Sarnia Sting will be continuing his hockey career in the American Hockey League.On Friday, the Toronto Marlies signed former Sting captain Nolan Dillingham to a one year AHL deal.The hard hitting defenceman played 147 regular season games in a Sting uniform, putting up 9 goals and 23 assists and 143 penalty minutes.Dillingham, a 21-year-old Mississauga, ON native, also added three goals and three helpers across 18 playoff contests.He was the recipient of the 2022-23 Mickey Renaud Captain’s Trophy.The over-ager will be too old to return to the Sarnia Sting lineup next season.
