Uptick in Sarnia building permits in June

Construction activity in Sarnia picked up last month.

City hall issued 68 building permits in June, up from 37 in May, with a total value of over $10.3 million.

The largest permit for $1 million was for two new service bays at Progressive Auto Sales on Exmouth Street. A $450,000 permit was also issued for new water service and a meeting room at Hanna Memorial Public School.

Last month's permits bring the year to date total to $36.8 million.

There were six permits issued in June for single-family homes in Sarnia, bringing the year to date total to 26.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
