Sarnia police investigating after man injured during violent home invasion

Police are looking for one suspect after a violent home invasion in Sarnia.

According to Sarnia police, the incident happened on Earlscourt Drive around 2 a.m. on Saturday, when a male suspect broke into the home while an elderly male and his wife were asleep.

Police said they were awoken by the suspect, who was brandishing an edged weapon, and demanding property from them.

The suspect attacked the male using the weapon causing lacerations to the victim’s head.

The suspect then fled the residence and is believed to have traveled north, according to police.

The victim was transported to the Bluewater Health hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are asking for assistance from neighbouring residents they might've missed during the initial canvass.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
