$14K worth of fentanyl seized in Sarnia

A 32-year-old Sarnia woman has been charged after she was allegedly caught with 28 grams of fentanyl, worth approximately $14,000.

Sarnia police tweeted about an arrest on Tuesday at the Northgate Plaza.

Chief of Police Derek Davis said an observant officer on general patrol at the shopping centre noticed suspicious behavior consistent with drug trafficking.

The subsequent investigation led to the drug seizure.

As a result, the woman was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Fentanyl is a powerful opioid and just a few grains has the potential to cause death.

Further details about the potentially deadly drug can be found on the Government of Canada's website or through the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.
