Sarnia police arrested a man they say allegedly attempted to mow down pedestrians with his vehicle.
Police said he went to a homeless encampment at a park in the city's south end and allegedly began to blast his car horn for several minutes overnight Sunday, attracting the attention of area neighbours.
While attempting to flee, police said the driver struck a pedestrian. The accused then drove down the street, did a U-turn, squealed his tires and returned at a high rate of speed allegedly attempting to strike pedestrians again with this vehicle before fleeing.
Police were able to locate the suspect vehicle and arrested the driver. Police said he faces a variety of criminal offences, including impaired driving.
Further details, including the condition of the pedestrian, were not immediately available.
Police said the suspect was being held for a bail hearing.
