Nominations open for 2023 Accessibility Awards

The City of Sarnia is once again recognizing local businesses and individuals who go above and beyond for those with disabilities.

Nominations are open for the 11th annual Accessibility Awards.

Communications Manager Steve Henschel said nominations are being accepted for seven categories.

"There's the Prelude to Excellence Awards, there is one for large business and small business," said Henschel. "Those recognize businesses who create an inclusive business environment for individuals with disabilities."

Other awards include Outstanding Customer Service in a Social Service Sector and the Kevin Schenk Legacy Award.

"So the [nomination] deadline is November 3, 2023, so it's a long nomination period, plenty of time, and all you have to do is go to www.sarnia.ca/accessibilityawards and you'll find on that page a nomination form that you simply fill out," said Henschel.

Nominations can also be made by contacting the city's Accessibility Coordinator at 519-332-0990 extension 3307.

Past recipients include the Mitton Village Collective, Bains BBQ and The Lambton College Massage Therapy Clinic.
