Construction of Corunna medical centre expected to start soon

Heavy equipment has arrived on site signaling the start of construction of a new medical centre in Corunna.

Four area doctors have partnered to build the St. Clair Medical Centre, at the corner of Hill and Murray Streets.

Sarnia dentist, Dr. Mike Rondinelli said residents should start seeing some regular movement at the site.

"[Construction has] been a little bit of a delay," said Rondinelli. "As we know interest rates and a bunch of other factors have kind of pushed the project back a little bit. But, rest assured, it is still going forward. We will be breaking ground any day now and you should see this building up in anywhere from about eight, to ten or eleven months."

Hogan Pharmacy is to be an anchor tenant, and five medical doctors will be located at the 25,000 square foot facility.

"We have officially brought on Dr. Erin White as well, a chiropractor, and we still have the mental health services, the pharmacy, the dentists, physio... we have almost every discipline of health that you could consider. There's maybe about one or two more units that are still available." he said.

Rondinelli said community interest in the project has been overwhelming.

"[There's been] tons of interest," he said. "Not only is Corunna booming but there's a massive catchment area around there. So, the building is going to service [residents] anywhere from Sarnia to Wallaceburg."

Rondinelli said his partners, Dr. Matthew Clifford, Dr. Jason Hall and Dr. Alan Poole's practices are currently located in Corunna, but at different locations.

"So they're super excited, their patients are super excited, just to be able to deliver care in a more organized manner," he said.
