Sarnia man's murder still under investigation following guilty pleas

Two men charged in the murder of a Sarnia man in April of 2022 have pleaded guilty to being accessories to murder.

James Armstrong and Jason Nahmabin, both from Sarnia, were initially charged with first degree murder in the death of 45-year-old Andrew Chute. On Wednesday, the two accused submitted guilty pleas to the lesser charge in the Superior Court of Justice.

Nahmabin, who was 43 at the time of his arrest, was remanded into custody. Armstrong, who also was 43 when he was arrested, was released on bail in June of 2022. Both men are set to return to court in November for the completion of a pre-sentence report.

In April, roughly a year after Chute's murder, provincial police released details about the case involving additional suspects and a vehicle they may have been driving.

The Lambton County OPP Crime Unit continues to look for two additional suspects believed to be connected to the death.

Chute's body was found in the parking lot of the Marthaville Habitat Management Area in Enniskillen Township on April 14, 2022.
