UPDATE: Fatal multi-vehicle crash closes part of WB Hwy. 402

Lambton OPP says two people have died and others sustained serious injuries in a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 402 near Modeland Road.

The Ministry of Transportation reported the westbound collision shortly after 2 p.m. on Monday. All westbound lanes were closed between Modeland Road and Airport Road until about 1 a.m. Tuesday.

Traffic cameras showed one transport truck across multiple lanes and another pulled off to the side.

Crews from Sarnia Fire and Rescue, Lambton EMS, and Lambton OPP are at the scene. Sarnia News Today received a tip from a listener that an air ambulance was called to the scene as well.

It's unknown how many people suffered serious injuries.

A foam truck was requested to attend the scene as part of the clean-up.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
