Kiwanis clubs, Staples help fundraise $10K for local students

Students at 16 Sarnia-Lambton schools are getting free supplies thanks to local Kiwanis clubs and Staples of Sarnia.

On Labour Day weekend, volunteers from the Forest Kiwanis Club, Kiwanis Club of the Seaway, Kiwanis Club of Sarnia-Lambton Golden K, and Kiwanis Club of Petrolia put on a barbecue outside of Staples to raise funds for the effort.

Staples also raised money from customers in the store.

As a result, nearly $10,000 was collected to provide the supplies, which were prepared and boxed up for each school by Staples.

They were recently delivered to the schools, and the Boys and Girls Club of Sarnia.

Kiwanis said the recipients were all very grateful to receive them.

The project was co-ordinated by Golden K member Sheila Donald in co-operation with Staples.
