A Sarnia nonprofit is bringing back a smaller version of the former Jazz and Blues in the Village event.
The Sarnia Organ Donor Awareness (SODA) group is hosting its first ever Bringing Back the Blues charity fundraiser this Saturday.
Organizer Sharon Raaymaker said it'll take place under the Oktoberfest tent at Big Family Brewing Co. at 485 Harbour Road.
"So, we have The 519 Band, and the Cameo Blues Band," she said. "The doors open at 6 p.m., there will be tickets available then, and the show starts at 7 p.m."
Jazz in the Village, launched by SODA in 2004, was a two-day event held the third weekend in September. The most recent event was held in 2019.
"And it never came back after COVID," said Raaymaker. "So we're just trying to see how sort of a smaller version of that event will go over, and hopefully we can raise some funds for SODA."
Raaymaker said it was one of SODA's largest fundraisers each year. She said fortunately, the organizers with Bringing Back the Blues are people that were originally on the Jazz and Blues in the Village committee.
"And all of the funds that SODA raises stay within Lambton County to bring awareness about transplants and tissue donations," said Raaymaker.
Raaymaker said the lead sponsors for the event are Carpenters Local 1256, Mellon Inc., and Lambton Audiology Associates.
Tickets are $20. For more information, visit SODA's website.
SODA is dedicated to promoting awareness of the need for organ and tissue donation through education, awareness and exposure in the community.
