Weapons charges laid in Sarnia

Charges have been laid after police seized a few weapons, including a modified gun, following an incident in downtown Sarnia Saturday morning.

City police said officers were called to the area of George Street and Christina Street North at 7:35 a.m.

A suspect allegedly brandished a knife at a security guard but left the area before police arrived.

Officers later arrested an unidentified man. Police confirmed to Sarnia News Today that the suspect is between the ages of 25 and 30 but further details could not be disclosed as he awaited bail.

He was charged with one count of assault with a weapon, two counts of weapons dangerous, and two counts of possession of a prohibited device.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
