Backyard fireworks allowed in Sarnia for Diwali

Sarnia residents will be able to set off private fireworks this week in celebration of Diwali.

Fire Chief Bryan Van Gaver recently declared Diwali, on November 12, as a "special occasion day" under the city's fireworks bylaw.

As a result, the sale of fireworks will be permitted on November 12 and seven days preceding it.

Private displays will be allowed from dusk until 11 p.m. from November 11 through to November 13.

Further details about the fireworks bylaw can be found on the city's website.
