Loaded handguns seized in Sarnia traffic stop

A traffic stop near Highway 402 led to the seizure of two loaded handguns and the arrest of two men early Wednesday.

Sarnia police said they were called to investigate a suspicious vehicle parked in the area of Indian Road just after 4 a.m.

When officers arrived, police said they found two adult males inside the vehicle.

An investigation was initiated and a loaded handgun was discovered.

Both suspects were arrested and a second loaded handgun was found during a further search of the vehicle.

Police have charged Nikolas Lewicki, 20, and Daniel Haywood, 22, with unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless use of a firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Lewicki was also charged with carrying a concealed weapon and operating a vehicle while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
