Show & Sale marks 50 years

The 50th annual Show and Sale organized by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sarnia-Lambton will take place this weekend at Alexander Mackenzie Secondary School in Sarnia.

Executive Director Kaylen Burgess said there will be some added features this year to mark the occasion.

"Our local McDonald's is offering free coffee with every admission coming into the show. On Saturday morning, we're going to have some live entertainment outside … because it's usually a bit of a wait," said Burgess. "Our committee went through years and years of past Show and Sale events to showcase the nostalgia over the last 50 years for all of the shoppers to look at as well."

Burgess said 100 vendors from Sarnia-Lambton and surrounding areas will be at the event.

"I feel like we have a really diverse group coming in for vendors this year," Burgess said, "We've carefully selected each one."

The fundraising event will take place on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Admission is $10 but children 12 and under are free.

Burgess said the goal this year is to raise $65,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters' mentoring program.

The Show and Sale returned to full capacity last year, where just under $60,000 was raised and over 4,000 people attended.

The event is again sponsored by Catherine Wilde & Fleck Law, which has supported the Show and Sale for the last seven years.
