Charges laid in theft investigation

A Kitchener man is facing a long list of charges in connection with the theft of a vehicle in Sarnia Wednesday.

Lambton OPP said they were contacted about a theft that happened in the city at around 7:30 a.m.

Officers were able to locate the vehicle and identified the driver, who they said is facing several other property-related charges in other jurisdictions.

The 44-year-old is charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime, mischief, operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code, failure to comply with release order, failure to comply with probation and two counts of driving while under suspension.

The accused was being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
