Alleged impaired driver charged in crash

A Sarnia man has been charged in connection with a crash Saturday morning that closed a busy city intersection for about three hours.

Lambton OPP responded to a two-vehicle collision just after 9 a.m. at Highway 40 and Indian Road.

When officers arrived on scene, they saw a man allegedly attempting to flee.  Police said the man, who was identified as one of the drivers in the collision, was taken into custody.

Police allege the man was displaying signs of impairment and refused to comply with the officers demands.

A 34-year-old man is charged with impaired driving, failure or refusal to comply with demand, resisting a peace officer, dangerous driving, and driving while prohibited.

He has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Police said only minor injuries were reported in the crash.
