A five year master plan for Lambton's Emergency Medical Services (EMS) will go to each municipality for further input.
The plan, which includes construction of a new headquarters, two new stations and the purchase of several new ambulances was presented to Lambton County Council Wednesday morning.
"Through all of this, service is intended to be enhanced, not reduced," said Lambton EMS Manager Stephen Turner.
He said 911 calls for service have increased steadily over the last five years at a rate of 5.6 per cent annually.
Council approved a motion to have the document presented to each municipal council for public consultation before January 30, 2024.
Lambton EMS operates out of ten stations, with 82 full-time 9-1-1 paramedics and eight community paramedics, 70 part-time paramedics, plus supervisors and administrative staff.
