Charges laid in overnight home invasion

Three men have been charged in connection with an overnight home invasion in Sarnia.

City police allege the accused forced their way into a home in the area of McGibbon Street and Proctor Street on Monday.

The suspects allegedly threatened the occupants with a gun and demanded their valuables. The suspects ran from the area but officers made arrests a short time later.

A 20-year-old suspect was charged with the following:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

  • Carrying concealed weapon

  • Unauthorized possession of firearm

  • Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized

  • Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition

  • Uttering Threats

  • Robbery

  • Breaking and entering

  • Disguise with intent

  • Two counts of failure to comply with probation order

Two 19-year-old suspects were each charged with the following:

  • Robbery

  • Breaking and entering

  • Disguise with intent

  • Failure to comply with a probation order

The three men were held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
