A new multi-use path is now open near Afton Drive in Sarnia.
The path, which cost $1.1 million, runs from Germain Park to connect with the Howard Watson Nature Trail towards Lambton College.
The route will go on Germain Street, Murphy Road, and Afton Drive.
There will also be marked sections on Minto Street, Mayfair Drive, and Preston Avenue.
According to the city, the 1.35 kilometre trail will provide a safety separation between vehicle and active transportation lines.
The city received funding for the project from the province and the federal government through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.
"Providing the infrastructure for cycling, walking and other modes of transport is crucial not only to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions but also to increase safety and promote healthy, active lifestyles," said Manager of Development Transportation, Alister Brown.
Another trail was recently opened in south Sarnia.
In June, a $1.28 million path was open along Confederation Street from Murphy Road to Finch Drive, and on Murphy from Confederation to Cardiff Drive.
