Police seek suspect in assault of Red Cross volunteer

The Sarnia Police Service (SPS) is seeking the public’s help identifying a man who assaulted a Red Cross volunteer at a local liquor store Saturday afternoon.

On December 16 at approximately 2:25 p.m., police responded to a call at the LCBO on Quinn Drive.

Police say it was reported that a male suspect had stolen two bottles of alcohol and as he fled the store, a volunteer collecting donations for the Red Cross, attempted to prevent his exit.

The 75-year-old volunteer was pushed and then tripped by the suspect, causing him to fall and strike his head.

According to police, the victim was transported by EMS to a local hospital where he received multiple staples to his head.

The suspect is described as a white male with a slim build, red and black pants, and a black coat with a red hood. He had a black face covering on and was wearing a black NY Yankees ball hat.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sarnia Police Service at 519-344-8861 or report anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 519-332-TIPS (8477).
