Fischer to represent Sting at Top Prospects Game

The Sarnia Sting will be represented at the 2024 Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game at the Avenir Centre in Moncton, New Brunswick.

Defenceman Lukas Fischer is one of 40 players chosen by the NHL's 32 clubs to take part in the contest.

The 17-year-old is into his second season with the Sting, and is ranked as a "B" level prospect for the 2024 NHL draft by Central Scouting.

The players will compete before hundreds of NHL scouts and thousands of fans in an effort to improve their draft stock ahead of the next June's draft.

Fischer has three goals and 12 assists in 32 games this season.

He amassed 10 points in 47 games in his rookie year in 2022-2023 after coming to the team from the USHL's Cedar Rapids Roughriders.

Fischer was originally selected by the Sting in the 11th round of the 2022 OHL Priority Selection. He's the son of former Detroit Red Wing Jiri Fischer.

The 40 players will be assigned to either Team Red or Team White in the new year, while captains and alternates for both clubs will also be announced in January.

The game is set for Wednesday, January 24, 2024.
