Knights lead 402 battle with 6-2 win over the Sting in Sarnia

The Sarnia Sting (12-20-1) fell to the London Knights 6-2 Thursday night in the battle of the 402.

The win extends the Knights (21-11-0-1) win streak to four, and gives them the lead in the season series with Sarnia.

Ryan Brown and Kai Schwindt both scored for Sarnia, who were outshot by the Knights 34-18

"You know 18 teams played tonight, they all came off Christmas Break there's nothing that really there's an excuse any different than any other team," said Sarnia Sting General Manager Dylan Seca. "I think we looked disinterested at times, we looked confused at times. That's a team that was ready to play, and I don't think we were to be completely blunt."

Max McCue scored a hat-trick in the win for London.

All of the Knights scoring came courtesy of special teams--three on the power play and three short-handed goals.

Seca said you're not going to win every game and these aren't pro hockey players, these are junior hockey players and they're going to make mistakes.

"That's fine, there's no issues there especially whether it be on the kill or the power play, you know things don't go your way, we're also fine with that," said Seca. "But to be all six goals, there has to be pride, there's got to be pride in detail, there's got to be pride in commitment and I didn't see it. It's got to be better. Yes, tomorrow night [Friday] we get a chance to kind of right the ship. You put your skates on and you're ready and I didn't see that from our group. We have to be better, way better."

The Sting are in London Friday night for the fourth installment in the 402 battle. You can catch the game live on CHOK (103.9FM/1070AM).
