Hogan Pharmacy customers targeted by scammers

Hogan Pharmacy customers are the latest targets of a telephone scam.

Manager Joe Stonehouse said scammers have been calling individuals, claiming to represent the pharmacy's Petrolia location.

They tell the victim that they need their credit card information before making a delivery.

Stonehouse said Hogan Pharmacy has received about a dozen calls from concerned residents over the past day.

He said they don't operate this way, and they'll already have a customer's information on hand.

"We just want to let everybody know that these phone calls are a scam," said Stonehouse. "This isn't our practice. We don't make such requests over the phone, we would never do that. We would have all of the information that we do need prior to the customer leaving the store."

Stonehouse said the OPP and Sarnia Police Service have been made aware of the scam and are investigating.

If you get a call like this, hang up and contact the pharmacy directly (519-882-1840) to confirm the legitimacy of the call.

As always, scams can be reported to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at by calling 1-888-495-8501 or visiting them online.
