Dr. Dueck officially appointed as MOH

Dr. Karalyn Dueck has officially been named the permanent Medical Officer of Health (MOH) for the County of Lambton.

Dueck was named acting MOH when she joined Lambton Public Health (LPH) in November 2022. She was officially appointed to the role by Deputy Premier and Ontario Minister of Health Sylvia Jones on March 24.

“We are thrilled to receive this notification from the [province,]” said Warden Kevin Marriott in a statement. “Dr. Dueck’s transition into the role of Acting MOH was seamless and we are excited to continue working with her.”

Prior to joining LPH, Dueck served as the acting associate MOH for the Middlesex-London Health Unit.

The certified family physician also holds the specialty certification as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Public Health and Preventive Medicine, which is considered the gold standard of certification, read a media release.

“I am grateful to be in this role and I look forward to continuing the good work of the team at Lambton Public Health as we evolve to continue to meet the needs of and promote the positive health and well-being of our community,” said Dueck in a statement.

Prior to Dr. Dueck's arrival, former LPH MOH Dr. Sudit Ranade monitored Sarnia-Lambton matters remotely after accepting a new position in the Yukon in 2022.
