Sting beat Barrie for third win in a row

The Sarnia Sting (15-21-1) won their third in a row Thursday, 2-1 over the Colts in Barrie (14-18-1).

The Sting's Nathan Omeri scored the game's opening goal at 3:28 of the first period.

Captain Cooper Way netted the game-winning goal with 6:38 left in the third period and goalie Karsen Chartier made 29 saves in net.

Sean Doherty was the game’s first star with a pair of assists for Sarnia.

Zach Wigle scored the lone goal for Barrie.

The victory moves the Sting into a tie with Flint for the eighth and final playoff spot in the OHL's Western Conference.

The Sting are off until Sunday afternoon when they travel to Guelph to battle the Storm. Puck drop is at 4 p.m.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
