Kangaroo sighting in Lambton a false alarm

Someone who reported a kangaroo sighting to Lambton OPP may face public mischief charges.

Lambton OPP issued an advisory Wednesday afternoon over social media to be on the lookout after a kangaroo was reportedly seen on Douglas Line.

Residents were advised not to approach the animal if located.

However, OPP later confirmed that the sighting was actually related to a kangaroo that was captured in Chatham-Kent on Tuesday.

The animal escaped from Greenview Park and Zoo but was found safe on Reeder's Line in Howard Township before it was returned to the zoo.

"Bad news for the individual who reported this event in #LambtonOPP area, public mischief charges are being considered," read a social media post.
