Inquest announced into death of Sarnia man

The Ministry of the Solicitor General has announced an inquest into the death of a 31-year-old man who died while in custody at the Sarnia Jail in 2020.

Travis Havers died on December 5, 2020.

An inquest, which is mandatory under the Coroners Act, will examine the circumstances of his death.

"The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing further deaths," read a news release.

Details about when and where the inquest will take place are expected to be announced at a later date.
