UPDATE: Truck fire closes section of Rapids Pkwy.

No injuries were reported after a spray foam truck caught fire near St. Patrick's Catholic High School Wednesday afternoon.

First responders were called over the noon hour to the construction site of the new Gregory A. Hogan Catholic School on The Rapids Parkway.

Sarnia Fire Rescue Public Education Officer Mike Otis said those in the area (including St. Pat's, St. Anne Catholic School, and School Secondary Catholic Saint-François-Xavier) were told to shelter in place as a precaution.

Sarnia police officers had also blocked the roadway to traffic.

The shelter in place order was lifted as of 1:35 p.m.

Otis said the fire was quickly extinguished. A damage estimate was not immediately available.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
