The Rotary Club of Sarnia's first event murder mystery night brought in $40,000.
The fundraiser featured actors from Theatre Sarnia who performed a thrilling whodunit at DeGroot's Nurseries on February 9.
The money will go towards new non-profit housing.
“Housing is a complicated issue and there are many ideas out there. We know one thing for sure – we need to help those in need," said Rotary Club of Sarnia President Mark Taylor in a news release.
Over 250 people attended the inaugural event
“We’re delighted,” said co-organizer Heather Martin. “This shows how much this community cares about getting housing for people who need it.”
