High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

Police have made an arrest in a five-month long drug trafficking investigation.In August 2023, the Sarnia Police Service Criminal Investigations Division, along with the VICE Unit, launched an investigation into the trafficking of fentanyl in the city.During the probe, officers seized 270 grams of fentanyl from a Napier Street home with a street value estimated at $47,250.On Monday, February 12 Sarnia police arrested an 18-year-old in connection with the investigation.Roderick Eugene Bressette is charged with possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking, and careless storage of ammunition.He was being held in custody and is set to appear for a bail hearing on Friday, February 16.
