Sarnia firefighters rescued three people from a burning building Monday night.
Sarnia Fire and Rescue, along with Sarnia police and Lambton EMS, responded to a structure fire on Mitton Street near George Street before 8:30 p.m.
Public Education Officer Mike Otis said firefighters arrived to find a fire in the stairwell of the multi-use building.
"It was in the stairwell, so that was what led to firefighters having to rescue two people from windows and one from the rooftop," said Otis. "We knocked down the fire quickly and prevented it from spreading, just a great job and a very good success story to have rescued those three people as quickly as we did."
The cause of the blaze has not yet been determined.
Otis said the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office along with Sarnia police and Sarnia Fire and Rescue are investigating what started the fire.
Damage is estimated at about $150,000.
