Local women host inaugural International Women's Day Event

Two local women have come together to host their first ever International Women's Day conference.

Misty Lucas and Dayna Dekroon have joined together to form a business called Aspire Events.

Through their business they are hosting the event International Women's Day Conference: Collaboration and Celebration on Saturday.

The event starts at 9 a.m. and will run until 4:30 p.m. at Crescent Hill Acres in Plympton-Wyoming.

Lucas said the goal of this event is for women to come together and inspire each other.

"We have dreamt about this event and our intention is to really bring women together to create space for them to collaborate and celebrate each other," she said.

Lucas added that this event targets all kinds of women.

"Women who are entrepreneurs or have side hustles or even just dreaming of being able to start their own business to come together and really inspire each other and to learn from each other and create community," she said.

The event will host speakers business coach Michelle Pfile and CEO of Wright Rehab Dana Parsons.

Lucas is a holistic life coach and will also be one of the speakers during the event.

She said there won't just be speakers at this event.

"In the afternoon they're going to have the opportunity to really network and mastermind together," Lucas said.

She also said after this event the goal is to host other events for women through Aspire Events.

"We're hoping to make this an annual event but then also maybe have one or two other events throughout the year to bring women back together," Lucas said.

She said this event also celebrates women

"We're celebrating women just for showing up and just saying I am here, I am ready to be a part of a community and to build that collaboration and support other women," Lucas said.

Ticket sales have ended for the event but Lucas said there are still spots available.

Anyone interested are being advised to reach out to the women on Instagram at aspireevents or by email at hello@aspireevents.ca
