No injuries reported in back-to-back collisions

Sarnia police were called to back-to-back collisions Saturday night.

Police said that in both crashes, which happened around 11 p.m., the driver of the vehicle was intoxicated.

No injuries were reported in either crash.

The first incident occurred when a woman pulled out of a driveway on Indian Road.

Witnesses told police that as the car pulled out of the driveway the driver accelerated and lost control. The vehicle struck a light standard, causing it to obstruct the roadway.

When officers arrived, they reported a strong smell of alcohol coming from the driver.

A 33-year-old Sarnia woman was arrested for drunk driving and taken to police headquarters.

After testing, police found that the woman had almost three times the legal amount of alcohol in her system.

The second incident happened on Murphy Road.

Police said that a driver crossed over the median, crashed through a chain link fence, and collided with a parked vehicle in a private driveway.

The investigating officer reported that the male driver smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes, and was unsteady on his feet.

The 55-year-old Sarnia man provided breath samples and was found to have almost three times over the legal driving limit of alcohol in his system.

He faces multiple driving charges.
