High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

A man who was wanted by Sarnia police was arrested in a standoff at a Sycamore Drive home Wednesday night.Officers were called to the residence at around 8:30 p.m., from someone who claimed the 29-year-old suspect was inside.The man, wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for assault with a weapon, uttering threats, and breaching his probation, allegedly refused to leave the home and police contained the area.At around 10:50 p.m., Emergency Response Team (ERT) officers forced their way inside and arrested the man without further incident.Police said the suspect was held for a bail hearing on the strength of the original warrant and original charges.
