Wanted man arrested in Sycamore Dr. standoff

A man who was wanted by Sarnia police was arrested in a standoff at a Sycamore Drive home Wednesday night.

Officers were called to the residence at around 8:30 p.m., from someone who claimed the 29-year-old suspect was inside.

The man, wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for assault with a weapon, uttering threats, and breaching his probation, allegedly refused to leave the home and police contained the area.

At around 10:50 p.m., Emergency Response Team (ERT) officers forced their way inside and arrested the man without further incident.

Police said the suspect was held for a bail hearing on the strength of the original warrant and original charges.
