The Rotary Club of Sarnia-Bluewaterland will be ready to add to the stone walkway at the flag plaza this summer.
Flag Plaza Chair Pat Voegelin said over the past year plaza activity was brought to a halt because of shoreline restoration work.
He said the club has resumed requests for memorial bricks to celebrate the life of a loved one, a milestone birthday, anniversary, or even a club sponsor.
"Within the plaza itself, we anticipate that we have room for potentially 30 more of the large stones," said Voegelin. "Once those stones have been put in the plaza, we do not anticipate room for anymore. We do have room for the smaller eight by four inch stones that we can install throughout the plaza, and expect that we'll be able to do that for a few years yet to come."
He said because of a high interest in the larger stones, they've launched a lottery.
Until the end of April, people who have interest in entering the draw for the opportunity to submit an application for a large stone can email rotaryflagplaza@gmail.com or call 226-349-3524.
Money raised from the stones goes back into the community.
"The funds come back to our club," said Voegelin. "It helps to offset the expenses that we have with the plaza. The net money that's available stays with the club and are used to help with local and international projects that our club is involved with."
Voegelin said new stone requests will be installed at the plaza late spring early summer.
