A recently formed robotics team from Sarnia has been invited to compete at the provincial championships, but is under a time crunch to fundraise enough money in order to attend the event.
The Francobots recently competed at a regional competition in Windsor where the team was invited to attend the provincial finals in Mississauga, scheduled to take place from April 3 to April 6.
A representative from Mastermind Youth Foundation, a non-profit education organization, launched a GoFundMe Page with a goal of raising $12,000 for the Francobots.
The team includes 11 students from École Secondaire Catholique Saint-François-Xavier and École Scondaire Franco-Jeunesse.
The FIRST Robotics Competition encourages high school students to showcase their talents in areas such as science, technology, engineering, and math.
*Update: Mastermind Youth founders personally covered the registration fee for the Francobots to compete in Mississauga. Fundraising efforts will continue and help pay for other expenses and to reimburse for the registration fee.
