Trial underway in 2021 murder of Allen Schairer

A Sarnia murder trial involving two suspects is finally underway, over three years after the death of a 62-year-old man.

Joshua Tomlinson and Noah Brown are each charged with second degree murder and break and enter in the death of Allen Schairer in January of 2021.

Schairer was found dead inside of his Devine Street home on January 26 after officers were called to conduct a welfare check.

The five week trial for Tomlinson and Brown was initially scheduled to begin in May of last year, but was delayed to April 2, 2024.  The pair have pleaded not guilty.

Sarnia police launched four homicide investigations in January of 2021 in the deaths of Schairer, Sue Elin Lumsden, Luis Enrique Hernandez, and Natalie Bartlett.
