Spring turnaround at Imperial

Work is underway on a major maintenance turnaround at Imperial.

The planned maintenance at the Sarnia facility is expected to take about six weeks to complete.

Public and Government Affairs Manager Kristina Zimmer said in an email to Sarnia News Today, that they're currently in the process of shutting down equipment, so residents may notice periods of elevated flaring and noise over the next few days.

"The turnaround will give us an opportunity for detailed inspections, repairs, and upgrades of process equipment that’s normally in continuous operation," said Zimmer.

Zimmer said Imperial will have a peak contractor workforce of about 500 during the turnaround.

It's planned the site will return to normal operations by early May.
