City police are appealing for the public's help in identifying a suspect in an early morning home invasion.
Sarnia police said at about 3:15 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to an Exmouth Street apartment near Capel Street.
It's alleged a male suspect smashed a glass patio door and entered a first-floor apartment.
The resident was awakened by the commotion and confronted by the unknown man. Police said there was a struggle in which the 46-year-old victim was assaulted, and had a TV smashed on their head.
Police said the suspect took off before officers arrived and it appears nothing was taken. The victim was treated at Bluewater Health for a large laceration to his head along with cuts and scrapes to his hands and knees.
The alleged attacker is described as tall with an athletic build and was wearing a grey hooded-sweatshirt, black jeans, black shoes and a black baseball hat.
According to police, the suspect was also wearing a distinct array of rings on his right hand.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sarnia Police Services Crime Investigations Division at 519-344-8861 extension 6164, or Sarnia-Lambton Crime Stoppers at 519-332-TIPS (8477).
