Upgrades at Real Canadian Superstore boost building permits

Improvements are planned at the Real Canadian Superstore in Sarnia.

City hall issued a $2.5 million building permit in March for interior alterations at the Murphy Road grocery store.

It was one of 33 permits issued last month, totaling just under $7.4 million.

A $500,000 permit was also issued to convert the existing BMW dealership on Confederation Street into a Volkswagen dealership.

Fewer permits were issued during the first quarter of the year, 90 compared to 109 in the first three months of 2023. However, the dollar volume is up year-over-year, at $16.2 million compared to $14.8 million during the same time frame last year.

Two permits were issued last month for single-family homes, bringing the year-to-date total to three.
