UPDATE: Driver charged in collision involving hydro pole

Sarnia police were asking motorists to avoid Michigan Line between Modeland Road and Blackwell Side Road Friday morning after a collision caused hydro wires to fall onto the roadway.

Police said no injuries were reported after a vehicle crashed into a hydro pole.

Crews from Bluewater Power were on scene for several hours to repair downed lines, and the road reopened at mid-afternoon.

About 38 customers in the area were without power for most of the morning, according to Bluewater Power's outage map. Service has been fully restored.

Police said the driver was issued a Provincial Offences Notice under the Highway Traffic Act.
