Firefighters respond to reported Fawn Island helicopter fire

Reports of a helicopter fire on Fawn Island Wednesday morning turned out to be false.

The St. Clair Township Fire Department said crews from Station 5 responded immediately.

On arrival, the department said it was determined there was no fire, but light smoke may have been observed as the helicopter was in the process of landing.

Firefighters confirmed there were no malfunctions or issues with the helicopter.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
