Alleged impaired driver arrested at Blue Water Bridge

A Michigan man is charged after a wrong turn landed him in Canada.

Lambton OPP were called to the Blue Water Bridge before 1:30 a.m. Monday.

It's alleged a driver made a wrong turn, and mistakenly entered Canada at the international border crossing,

While speaking with Canada Border Services Agency officers, it was suspected the driver had consumed alcohol and a roadside screening device was administered.

Police said breath samples taken at the OPP Petrolia detachment were over twice the legal limit.

The 34-year-old Harrison Township man is charged with operation while impaired and having a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus.

He has been released and is scheduled to appear in Sarnia court at a later date.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
